Would have loved to see more pictures of white tile with off white grout or varying shades of gray grout for those of us who don t want pure white but don t like the black look either.

First off here s a look at the gray grout i chose i went with a light gray option called frost.

This pic shows how the white subway tile and gray grout look in both shadowed spaces underneath the upper cabinet and to the left of it and in a more sunny spot close to the countertop.
Aesthetically i usually suggest white grout with white subway to allow the countertop stone to stand out.
The flexibility of grout color for white subway tile backsplash is pretty exquisite and if you crave a lighter space white grout is a great starting point.
I have had both white and gray grout with subway tile.
I had an original 1916 subway tiled bathroom and it had traditional light gray grout i think that it is actually cement.
The best part about white subway tiles is that if you want to keep the look classic you can simply use a matching grout.
Currently i have a condo with two bathrooms done in white subway and white grout.
